ONE WORD SUMMARIZING MY PROFESSIONAL BRAND
One word that summarizes my professional brand would be Hope. In my point of view, it is impossible to live without hope, specially if you are a teacher because Hope is what makes us believe that by our work in education we can change lives, hope help us in the midst of the storm to never give up on one student, never give up on our desire to make the world a better place to live in. When we have hope, we can see only small points of light in the darkness however that small points of light will let each teacher and student be enlightened completely in the future. The hope is to have the strength to try again with that student, even when the world tells you to give up on them. In terms of my philosophy of education, I stand with two words the first one is hope, Hope that through education we can change lives, and consequently change the world. The second word is love. If we love education we will keep learning and teaching meaningfully, when an educator has developed a passion and love for education the process of teaching and learning turn to be easy. Education is part crucial and important for the development of a healthy society. It is a powerful weapon that can be used against ignorance. Robert Owen’s educational theory reveals that a “proper kind of communitarian education would alleviate social ills and reduce socioeconomic class antagonism” (Gutek 1995, p. 209). A healthy society uses education as a weapon to reach each individual and change the world, Nelson Mandela believed that “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” (N. Mandela). I believe that too. When the individuals are being educated in all different areas such as ethical, economic, literature, math, language, and art, these individuals will impact the society which they live in and act in the good interest of all. Since the beginning of the world until these days there were and there are individuals that impacted their lives, their society, and communities though knowledge. These individuals shared to the world their gifts of multiple intelligence, and prove to the world why education, the search for knowledge, and wisdom are so crucial for a healthy society and for it to grow. I would communicate this brand to school and district stakeholders by implementing a program, a hope room and a hope blog that discuss the importance of having a hope and love in education.
